Ivanovic shatters jankovic's hopes-becomes No.1 seed | Mens semis today!

The all serbian semifinals which took place yesterday between the No.2 Ana Ivanovic and 3rd seed Jelena Jankovic was one firece battle between the two serbians which resulted in favour of the higher ranked serbian. The winner was assured to take over the No.1 ranking in the world and get a grandslam final ticket.


Ivanovic was very rusty the day and fortunate for her that she overcame her compatriot.Jankovic led 3-0 at the start. Ivanovic, though, won 16 of 18 points to end the first set, part of a six-game spurt. Then Jankovic used a seven-game run to claim the second set and a 2-0 lead in the third. And, rising to the occasion, Ivanovic took the final three games.


"I really let in slip away" said the 3rd seeded serbian who now has 0-4 semifinal record in the grandslams.

“She loves to defend and to run, so you just have to take these kind of risks—and believe,” Ivanovic said. “Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t.”

In the other semifinals the giant killer, The younger sister of two-time major champion Marat Safin followed up her twin escape-from-match-point-down, three-set upsets of Sharapova and No. 7 Elena Dementieva with a straightforward 6-3, 6-2 victory over No. 4 Svetlana Kuznetsova to reach her first Grand Slam final.

Today mens semifinals will be decided in the first draw World no.1 Roger federer will face the hometown boy unseeded Gael monfils who wants to repeat what Jo-Will tsonga did in the Australian open by defeating the No.2 rafael nadal. In another draw two power houses of mens tennis face each other with The threetime defending champ Nadal faces the Energetic No.3 Djokovic so watch what happens!
