Knocked out -Top seed Maria sharapova gets a shock | Federer sails| Bryans out

Russia's Top seed Maria sharapova was crashed out of the tournament by compatriot Dinara safina in a 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), 6-2 defeat. The match can be called as a thrilling one with lots of noise made by sharapova, her stroke-accompanying shrieks, her self-loathing shouts between points and the spectators’ hearty boos and high-pitched whistles that ushered the No. 1-seeded woman to the exit.

Sharapova was just one point away from reaching the quarter-finals and a step closer to win the french open the only grand slam which she has never won but she had to go by some terrific display by MArat safin's sister.

“Oh, I was angry,” Sharapova said. “I was angry for making unforced errors, for not taking some of those balls and just ripping them.”

Safina now faces No. 7 Elena Dementieva, the 2004 French Open finalist who beat No. 11 Vera Zvonareva 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in another all-Russian match Monday.

Sharapova who became the top seed after the retirement of Justin henin can easily loss the spot. She now has has 4116.00 points but Ana ivanovic who is the 2 seed and still present in the tournament could race sharapova easily as Ana has 3922.00 points now itself.

Federer sails through

Roger federer is continewing his good form in the rolland garros but he did have some troubles in his fourth round tie against Julien Benneteau to go through to the quarter-finals of the French Open with a 6-4 7-5 7-5 win.

The Frenchman put some tough fight against the swiss world number 1, Federer was completely out of his potential he missed some easy balls, never ran against some balls, his serve was also not upto the mark but yet Federer cruised to the next round

Federer can be happy as he will have very little trouble until the finals as he is placed in the top half seperated from Nadal and Djokovic. So an intresting semifinal waits us in the botton half as Rafael nadal will face Novak djokovic (if they win their respective quarter finals)

In another classic fourth round of the day 5th seed David Ferrer defeated 21st seed Radeak Stepanik in a 4-6 6-2 1-6 6-3 6-3 marathon match. Ferrer will now meet Gael monfils in the quarter finals who defeated Ivan Ljubicic 7-6 4-6 6-3 6-2.

Bryan Brothers are out

The Americans dreams are tottaly washed out from the years french open as the Mens doubles top seeds Bryan brothers got an early exit in the tournament

The top-seeded men’s doubles team of twins Bob and Mike Bryan was upset by Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Luis Horna of Peru 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (1)
