Safina wins an Epic against Venus!

Dinara Safina was a set and 0-2 down and she came back to win a Epic battle against Venus Williams, who earlier defeated the 2 time reigning champion Jelena Jankovic. Now Safina will face her compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova in a all Russian affair.

Dinara and Svetlana will face each other for the second time in two weeks, earlier Svetlana defeated Safina in the finals of Stuttgart Grand Prix last Sunday.

It was clearly a display of a True Champions! Safina has send in some strong message to her opponents. Will last year's Rolland garros runner up be victorious this time?

The fourth seed Venus Williams played better early on to go 4-1 and then 5-2 ahead. But Safina refused to give up and the first set went into a tie breaker but Venus eventually won 7-3.

Williams kept up the pace to go 2-0 up in the second set before Safina stormed back to win six of the next seven games to level the contest.

The Russian twice let a break advantage slip in the third set but she broke again with a powerful crosscourt backhand return.

She then saved four break points in the following game and failed to convert two match points before finally clinching an enthralling match that lasted over three hours.
