Chelsea's Takeover? !

They are not doing that great in the Championships and now they may lose their Russian owner as well. Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich is also a victim of Financial crisis in the world and may well sell the club.

Chelsea aren’t the only English giants facing a potential takeover, as Liverpool recently entered talks with Kuwaiti billionaire Nasser Al-Khafari.

Chelsea could yet change hands, despite Roman Abramovich and his lawyers’ insistence to the contrary, as a Swiss firm backed by German businessmen are considering a takeover bid for the Premier League club.

The negotiations, if they do eventually take place, will be handled by Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim, the very same man who brokered Abu Dhabi United Group’s purchase of Manchester City last year.

Speaking to The Guardian, Al Fahim said, “It’s not entirely clear if Chelsea is for sale, but regardless of that, we first need to see if we are in a position to buy it.

“Given that Roman Abramovich has invested over £500m into the club, it would not be cheap, and with the current credit crunch, nobody wants to be over-exposed on one deal.

“But through a number of investors, there is money available to put together a deal.”

Abramovich has already made it perfectly clear that he does not wish to sell the Blues, taking the publishers of The Sunday Times to court after they claimed he was looking to cash in on the club.

Nevertheless, a spokesperson for Falcon Equity - the aforementioned Swiss firm - told the Arabian Business website, “We have looked before at some European clubs to see if the numbers added up, and now we are doing the same with Chelsea.

“I don’t believe anything is ever not for sale if you come up with the right price. It’s not about trying to buy a football team but about a business.

“You don’t make money because 11 guys run around the pitch, you make money because of all the other commercial aspects that go with a football club, particularly real estate and television rights.”

Madrid wont suit Ronaldo says Fergi

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson warned Cristiano Ronaldo that moving to Real Madrid would be “the worst thing” for his career.

The Portuguese winger again refused to commit himself to the Red Devils over the weekend, but Ferguson is confident he will stay at Old Trafford after scoring 42 goals last season.

“After the Champions League final, he was the happiest boy in the world,” Ferguson said Monday from Man United’s tour of South Africa. “I think he knows genuinely where the best club is to be at, and that is Manchester United.

“I honestly believe that the worst thing he could do is go to Real Madrid. He’s 23 years old, he is at the right club, he is at a fantastic club and there should not be any need to think in any other way.”

United told Ronaldo he will not be sold nor offered a new contract with a pay rise to match any offer from the Spanish champions.

Instead of increasing Ronaldo’s weekly pay of $240,000, United wants him to display commitment and loyalty.

“He signed a five-year contract last year and he still has four years left,” Ferguson said. “That’s definite—I know that. I’ve seen his signature.

“Young lads can be twisted by the talk of money and moves that are happening all the time in modern day football.”

Ronaldo, who is sidelined until at least October after recently undergoing surgery on his right ankle, is not on the tour to South Africa. United plays the Orlando Pirates on Tuesday in Durban. Read more!

Makelele joins PSG

Chelsea's former France international midfielder Claude Makelele has reached an agreement to sign for Paris Saint Germain, the French club announced on Monday.

The 35-year-old is set to be presented at a press conference later on Monday after a deal was reached between both teams at the weekend.

"I'm very happy, everything went well," said Makelele. "It took some time but I wanted this so much that Chelsea gave me the possibility of finishing my career in my own country.

"It's a very important challenge, I hope to enjoy it, and there's also my family," said Makelele, whose partner and son live in Paris.

"I'm coming to bring a little more experience. I'm not coming like a Messiah but to teach what I also learned when young."

Makelele joined Chelsea from Spanish side Real Madrid in 2003 for 16.8 million pounds and won two Premier League titles with the club. Chelsea are reported to have freed the player from the final year of his contract.

Makelele's last match for the club was their Champions League final defeat by Manchester United in Moscow in May.

Capped 71 times he retired from international football in June after France's disappointing exit from Euro 2008.

Makelele becomes the second major recruit of new PSG president Charles Villeneuve after Ludovic Giuly joined from AS Roma last week.

The club, who struggled last season, have also recruited Guillaume Hoarau from Le Havre and Stephane Sessegnon from Le Mans. Read more!

Serie A powerhouse AC Milan won Ronaldinho sweepstakes on Tuesday, agreeing to a three-year contract with the Brazilian superstar.

Financial terms of the deal were not revealed, as AC Milan has not officially revealed its transfer fee to Ronaldinho’s former club, FC Barcelona.

But Italians newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan paid a transfer fee of approximately $30 million and will pay Ronaldinho $10.4 million per season.

AC Milan made the announcement on its official website following a day of talks between Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Milan vice president Adriano Galliani in the Catalan capital.

Ronaldinho reportedly travelled to Milan on Tuesday evening, and the Italian club confirmed the the deal now hinged only on the midfielder successfully completing a physical.

“The player will be tomorrow in Milan to undergo the medical examinations and sign the contract that will bind to Milan until June 30, 2011,” the club said in a statement posted on its website.

Milan will hope Wednesday’s medical passes without a hitch, as they likely will unveil Ronaldinho on the same day their squad begins preseason training.

Chelsea signs Deco!

BIG PHIL brings 31 year Portuguese playmaker

Chelsea signed Portugal’s Brazilian-born playmaker Deco from Barcelona on Monday, the day before Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari takes over as coach of the Premier League side.

The 30-year-old midfielder is close to Scolari who coached him with the Portugal national side, taking them to the Euro 2004 final and the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 earlier this month before signing for London side.

More importantly perhaps for Chelsea, beaten Champions League finalists last season, is Deco’s experience in Europe’s top club competition which Chelsea have never won.

Deco won the Champions League title with Porto in 2004 under Jose Mourinho, who was later to become Chelsea coach, and then with Barcelona in 2006.

Nicknamed Magico, Deco started his career with Brazilian club Corinthians, before moving to Portugal in 1999. He won three Portuguese titles as well as the UEFA Cup and Champions League before moving to Barcelona in 2004.

“I am sure I have come at the right time to do great things and help Chelsea go back to the way it was and come back to being the first one not only in England but also in the champions League which has been a dream for so long,” Deco was quoted as saying on the club’s Web site www.chelseafc.

Deco, valued at about 10 million euros ($15.81 million), was one of Portugal’s better players at Euro 2008, inspiring them with his midfield brilliance to victories over Turkey and Czech Republic that qualified them for the quarter-finals with a group match to spare.

Ronaldo goes to spain for madrid?

Manchester united winger Portugals Cristiano ronaldo has reported to be intrested in playing for the spanish giants Real madrid.

Ronaldo was speaking in what the Terra website claims was an exclusive interview with the Portugal international.

"I would like to play for Real Madrid but only if it is true they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them. However, it does not depend on me," he said.

Real are believed to have offered Ronaldo 300,000 pounds a week (586,000 dollars) after tax to move to the Bernabeu and would pay United a world record transfer fee to complete the deal.

But Ronaldo added that he would not talk about his future for the duration of Euro 2008 because he does not want to be distracted.

"From today I'm not going to talk about this topic with anyone at all," he told Terra. "I'll only talk about this again after the European Championship. Don't ask me any questions because I won't answer."

The Spanish champions had seemed to concede defeat in the Ronaldo race after United threatened to report them to FIFA.

So Ferguson will be stunned to hear Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals in all competitions this season, has edged closer to the exit door after nuturing his progress from a precocious teenager into arguably the best player in the world.
