Preview : Australian GP 2010 | Who is heading where?

We are used to seeing Australia at the starting of the season. But Bahrain started the proceedings two weeks before where Ferrari made the cut with a 1-2. Although it did seem that the Red Bull were a second or two faster than the other cars on the grid. It was unfortunate for Sebastien Vettel who began the race at pole position and finished only at fourth due to a exhaust failure. Michael Schumacher who made his F1 return after 3 years, finished 6th behind his team mate Nico Rosberg.

Australian GP - Track

Australia without a doubt has one of the most dangerous first turns. With 24 cars rushing at the start, there are going to be incidents involved. In 2002, Ralf Schumacher rided over Rubens Barrichello's Ferrari and literally flew over 50 meters. Even last year, Barrichello ran into Mark Webber.

Melbourne often produces stop-start races with several safety car interruptions. Last year there were two, courtesy of Kazuki Nakajima and the Sebastian Vettel-Robert Kubica crash in the dying stages of the race.

Without the refueling, F1 will see very less overtaking maneuvers. So the qualifying will play a important part.

Drivers to watch out for :
Mark Webber : The Australian has never had a great home race so far. His best finish was in 2002 where he came home 5th in a humble Minardi. Now, he has the fastest car on the track. If there is a chance then this is it. Mark Webber would be my dark horse for the race. Webber failed to make use of his pace at qualifying in Bahrain but he wouldn't want to miss out to win the race in front of his home crowd.

Michael Schumacher : The whole world knows about Schumacher's love affair with Albert Park. He has won at this very circuit 4 times. It would not be easy for him to race with the younger and faster lot, but who can if he can't? I will place my bet on Schumi without thinking once. If Schumacher can get a decent enough place at the qualifying, he sure can enter the podium.

Team to watch out for :
Force India : After two season of frustration, Force India are beginning to strike the cord. They are not going to challenge with the big 4 - Ferrari, Mclaren, Mercedes or Red Bull. But they have some healthy competition at the middle of the table which they would want to win. Force India along with Renault, Williams and Toro Rosso are all running for the 5th spot finish and Force India seem to have the better chance. Adrian Sutil and Tonio Luizzi are performing decently and both of them finished at Bahrain. If it was not for the first corner fiasco, Sutil too would have bagged some points.

Final Prediction:
It all depends on the qualifications. Expect atleast one Ferrari and one Red Bull on the podium. Read more!

Manchester United defeat Liverpool | Chelsea drop points against Rovers

It has been an eventful evening. Manchester United go 4 points clear off Chelsea as they defeated Liverpool 2-1 and Chelsea only managed a draw against Blackburn Rovers. Chelsea do have one game in hand.

Man Utd vs Liverpool | Match Review
The match had all the hype before its start. Man United clearly needed a win to take the title. Liverpool had to win to stay in the champions league. More than these, it was pride which was at stake. Liverpool had defeated United 3 times in a row. They did a double over the champions last season and won the match at Anfield this season 2-0.

Sir Alex Ferguson decided to play Park Ji-Sung in a free role. Nani and Valencia occupied the wings while Rooney took the striker's job all alone. Benitez played with Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt and Maxi leaving out Aquilani and Babel.

The match began and Liverpool got a very early goal as Torres headed the ball across Van Der Sar's net. It was perfectly executed by Liverpool's Talisman. Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville totally forgot to mark Torres who gave Liverpool the upper hand very early in the game. Then after less than 10 minutes, Valencia made a great run through the penalty box, where Mascharano pushed him. United were awarded an shot from the spot. Rooney took it and Reina saved a excellent ball but he couldn't prevent the rebound which Rooney finished quite easily. Then the match went to half time

After the beginning of the second half, both the teams had half chances but the real blow came when Fletcher sent an awesome ball into the box and Park headed it into the goal post. United lead 2-1. It stayed like that till the end although Torres had an amazing chance in the 89th minute. United went top but the real boost came when Chelsea managed only a draw in their game against Blackburn.

Man of the Match : Park Ji-Sung. The cultured mid fielder from South Korea was all over the park yesterday. He had missed an half chance in the first half but he couldn't miss the one in the 60th minute as he converted an easy header. Sir Alex Ferguson's trust with Park in big games is proving to be valuable as he has scored against both Arsenal and Liverpool now.

Chelsea vs Blackburn Rovers | Match Review

Chelsea should have thought that their week wouldn't get any worser after their debacles display against Inter Milan in the mid-week but It did get worse. They dropped points againt Blackburn Rovers as El-Hadji Diouf scored an equaliser in the 70th minute to make the scoreline 1-1. Chelsea could not get a goal past their defense as Chelsea surrendered their lead to Man Utd.

After Drogba netted a 5th minute goal, his 28th of the season it did look as if it was going to be a massive Chelsea win but Rovers got back their defense and Diouf did the rest.

All of Chelsea's international power houses looked tired and used up as they gave up fairly quickly. To add to their woes, Brainslav Ivanovic picked up an injury and left the field.

Now taking that Chelsea win their game in hand, they would still be 1 point behind Manchester United and only 1 point ahead of Arsenal who defeated West Ham United 2-0. Read more!

Manchester United vs Liverpool | The Match Preview

The English Premier League is reaching its pivotal point and Today's game could decide two important things. The battle for the title and the battle for the 4th spot. Manchester United dearly need this win to keep their hopes on the 4th consecutive titles alive while Liverpool need to win this to stay on course for the last European spot.

Needless of all these, Man United vs Liverpool games have always been full of adrenaline. Both of them have won England's biggest 18 times and of course, Liverpool has not won a single title after the inception of the Premier League in 1992. But they have defeated United 3 times in a row now including that 4-1 thrashing last year at Old Trafford. Both Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard were on fire that particular night and having them both fit will only rise Rafa Benitez's hopes.

United too have struck some form lately. Having got back their best center half combination of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, it is only fair to say that they hold the advantage here. Rooney is in amazing form having scored 32 goals in 35 starts. He has been Man United's talisman this season but he has only scored 1 goals against Liverpool in 14 attempts.

Expected Lineups

Manchester United :
Van Der Sar, Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes, Nani, Valencia, Rooney.

Liverpool : Reina, Agger, Carrager, Insua, Johnson, Lucas, Mascharano, Gerrard, Kuyt, Babel, Torres.

Scoreline Expected : 2-1 to United. Read more!
