Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal all held to Draws

If it was without Gerrard Liverpool's Top place in the table would have been really on the edge of a rope as the Skipper scored twice to hold the ambitious Hull City to a 2-2 Draw!. Manchester United on the other hand failed to capitalize on a rather easier opponents Tottenham and were held to a goalless draw. Arsenal to were held by Middlesbrough to a 1-1drawSteven Gerrard scored twice to give first-place Liverpool a 2-2 tie against Hull on Saturday. Manchester United failed to capitalize on the Premier League leader’s stumble, drawing 0-0 at Tottenham.

Liverpool could now be overtaken by Chelsea when the Blues play West Ham on Sunday.

“I am very disappointed, everyone is disappointed,” Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez said.

United, the defending champion, was held to a draw on the road. It is six points behind Liverpool, which is two points in front of second-place Chelsea.

Arsenal’s fading title ambitions were dealt a further blow when former Gunner Jeremie Aliadiere scored a tying goal to give Middlesbrough a 1-1draw. That allowed Aston Villa to move up to fourth place with a 4-2 win over Bolton.

Hull was projected to be a candidate for relegation when it made its debut in the top tier of English soccer, but it strengthened its hold on sixth place with a point at Liverpool.

“It is too early to start making bold statements. … I am just delighted with an outstanding performance,” Hull manager Phil Brown said.
